Have you ever felt overwhelmed trying to balance work, family, and personal commitments? We all do from time to time.
I often hear it from others and even catch myself referring to it. But the problem is that “it” doesn’t exist. What doesn’t exist? Balance.
In a world system where balance is often exemplified as the key to a fulfilling life, I suggest that finding the balance you’re looking for is impossible. If it were, we wouldn’t mention it so much and feel like we never have it. Wanting to achieve balance is an unrealistic goal. It’s better to think in terms of priorities and sacrifices. We cannot do everything equally.
Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:33:
Matthew 6:32–7:1 (NKJV) “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. “Judge not, that you be not judged.”
Trying to achieve “balance” adds another burden to your already burdened life. Let it go and learn to live within your God-given capabilities.
