Insecurity has ruined many leaders and is currently eroding effectiveness in many others. When a leader is destroyed by insecurities, countless others are ruined by that leader’s lack of authentic Jesus-centered leadership.
The dictionary defines insecurity as “uncertainty or anxiety about oneself; lack of confidence.” We all indeed experience insecurities now and then, but for the leader who chooses to ignore their insecurities, it can end very poorly. The negative results include control issues, abuse, harshness, and, ultimately, a lack of faith. You must face this issue head-on, or you will find yourself in a place of authority, hurting others and not leading at all. Lording over others is not Spirit-led leadership.
Abiding in Christ is the most secure place you can be. Your identity is secure in Him, and He will make you the man and woman He wants you to be. You’ll learn to fear man no longer, living as a people-pleaser, and instead learn to fear God, enjoying life found only in Him.
