It’s so hard for you right now. No one seems to understand. Many seem to not care. I’m sorry. You’re right, it’s super hard.  Your emotions are all over the place. You aren’t sure what you’re going to do. You’re not even sure you’re going to make it. By grace, through faith, you WILL make it!

Of all the emotions we feel in these difficult times, I think being disoriented is at the top of list. Trials and difficulties tend to disorient us. The New Oxford Dictionary defines ‘disorient’ as, “to cause someone to lose their sense of direction”. YES! That’s exactly how you feel. You don’t know where you’re going. You don’t know what you’re doing. Sometimes it even feels like God doesn’t know what He’s doing with your life.  So you’re mad. You’re sad. You’re afraid. You want to run. You want to hide. But you don’t really know what to do so you’re sit there in your pain.

Your feelings are real.  They are overwhelming. They are all that you can see.  But it’s vital you know, they don’t always tell us the truth. It’s easy to interpret our present difficult situations through our misguided and disoriented feelings. We alway come to the wrong conclusions. The pain is too deep and the rejection is heartbreaking. More often than not, our pain takes priority and we come to the wrong conclusions.

Friend, this is normal. You’re not a bad Christian because you’re disoriented and are making bad decisions in your pain. I’m sorry it’s been so hard for you and it’s even gotten worse. But God! Yes God is with you to give you the stability and strength that you need. He is supplying all of your needs right now, in all of the chaos and confusion.

God has given us Himself to comfort us.  He has given us in His Word direction on how to handle painful disorienting times. I was listening to a pastor teach on this topic many years ago and part of his message has stayed with me to this day.

In times of defeat and discouragement, pain and problems, trials and tribulations there are three things we must do in order to withstand the onslaught of our emotions and the attacks of the enemy.

1 – STAND STILL

Exodus 14:13 (NKJV) And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

God’s word to Moses is God’s word to you today. Stand still. Don’t move. Stand your ground. Let God show you who He really is!

2 – BE STILL

Psalm 46:10 (NKJV) Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

Stop talking and start listening. Quiet yourself into a position of readiness and surrender.

3 – SIT STILL

Ruth 3:18 (NKJV) Then she said, “Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.”

Waiting is hard but so very important. The matter will turn out better than you feel right now. Wait upon the Lord friend.

It’s a hard season for you right now. I prayed for you. You’re important to God. Immensely.

You must have eyes into my soul! This is exactly where I am and have been for a year! I have prayed, cried, begged, listened to Pastor Ed, read the Bible, on my knees and cried some more. Thank you for these wonderful words. I shall be putting this up to read every morning and night! Bless you. Give it up to God.

You’re welcome Julie. I’m sorry it’s so painful. Things aren’t so neatly tied up in a bow when it comes to pain. The Lord bless and encourage and strengthen you. ed
